\newglossaryentry{CD}{type=\acronymtype,

see=[Glossary:]{cd}
}

\newglossaryentry{DVD}{type=\acronymtype,
name={DVD},
description={digital versatile disc},
first={digital versatile disc DVD}
}

\begin{document}
\noindent

First use \gls{DVD}\    subsequent \gls{DVD}

\printglossary
\printglossary[type=\acronymtype]

\end{document}

Evaluation

This isn't a bug. The see key is designed to behave in this way. From the user manual (emphasis added):

see
Cross-reference another entry. Using the see key will automatically add this entry to the glossary, but will not automatically add the cross-referenced entry. The referenced entry should be supplied as the value to this key.
If you don't want the entry automatically added you could instead do:
\newglossaryentry{CD}{type=\acronymtype,
name={CD},
description={compact disc\glssee[Glossary:]{CD}{cd}},
first={compact disc (CD)}
}

Update 2020-03-02: there's more flexibility with the glossaries-extra package. You can use the package option autoseeindex=false to prevent the automatic indexing performed by the see combined with indexcrossrefs which will automatically index any cross-references that haven't been marked as used at the end of the document. A more powerful alternative is to use glossaries-extra with bib2gls.
