5.1 Creating a Bibliography Database

This section covers creating a .bib file that contains the bibliographic information you want to cite in your documents. You can use an ordinary text editor to create a bibliographic database (as described in §5.1.2. Writing the .bib File Manually) but it can be difficult to remember the names of the required fields and it's easy to make syntactic mistakes. It can also be hard to keep track of entries in a large database. To make life easier, there are a number of bibliography reference managers available that provide a convenient graphical interface. One such application is JabRef and is described next.

This book is also available as A4 PDF or 12.8cm x 9.6cm PDF or paperback (ISBN 978-1-909440-02-9).
