## Report

from 2015 latex has a new double column float implementation (previously in fixltx2e) which keeps figure* and figure in the same list, distinguished by 2-col figures having a depth of 1sp the redefinition of \@dblfloatplacement loses the 1sp and things go wrong (see the image in the tex.sx report) seems like just adding \def\f@depth{1sp} fixes it.

see example at

### MWE

\showoutput
\showboxdepth3

\documentclass{scrartcl}
\usepackage{kantlipsum}
\begin{document}
\kant*[7]

\begin{figure}[!htbp]
\leavevmode\smash{\rule{1pt}{26pt}}\kant*[7]
\end{figure}

\leavevmode\smash{\rule{1pt}{26pt}}\kant*[7]
\end{document}

Thank you! I've been trying to work out why my new LaTeX book went wonky with TL2015, but hadn't been able to narrow it down to a mwe!

sigh looks like I attached the wrong file, but you can use the tex.sx link.
